油畫(8) -- 有鏡子與水果的靜物


這次油畫主題是要畫鏡子,老師說要畫出鏡內的靜物和真實的差別,而這差別可從降低鏡內的靜物的彩度著手.當我正在試著畫出差別時,老師突然說,張XX(我)!你在研究新畫法啊呀!我說是的!然後老師就走過來說,你的畫法好像在畫一種碼賽客!我說,因為我想用大筆觸畫出物體的量體感,再用小筆觸柔和接面.老師說這樣會有問題,應是暗面要大筆觸,亮面要用小一點的筆觸疊.說清處點,就比如最暗到最亮有9階,7~9階可屬同樣大筆觸,但是到6階以上筆觸應逐漸縮小才是.因此,應說你現在的方法是解決了量體感,但是光,就是亮面會有問題.聽完老師的分析,回家又畫了一張,希望是有比較好.

Canvas for Light -- Pin-up Exp.1 completed with photos


Today, we final our cardboard models and handout black and white photos. After last class, Nancy hoped me to do a model, improving the No.1 and No.3 models. I did not like No.1 model because it was too miscellaneous and I like No.3 for its form. However, Nancy felt it was not bad and No.3 model lacked varied factors.

So, this time, I tried to make an order which had a sequence in size, varied from big to small. This size was bound in trapezoid shape becuase this shape could be divided by triangle, in fact, it was a triangle and cut a triangle in one corner. So, it had more possibility to form a triangle volume by folding this trapezoid. Then the size of trapezoid would be reduced in half at next one. The definition of the size was the dimension of the trapedzoid, the formula was A = ( LB + UB )*H/2. So, the next one A' had fixed value - LB, A/2, unfixed value - H', UB'. I assumed UB' was UB/2 then I could get H'. I kept on generating new trapezoids by this rule.

There is one example --> (27.4+18.7)*12.4/2=(27.4/2+18.7)*H'
-> H' = 8.8

When I made this model, I tried to fold to form triangle volume whose opening was connected. But, the result seemed not very match my purpose. However, Nancy felt it was very good. She thought it had some order could be read. This order was hidden, result from its original process. She said the purpose of this exercise was focus on this controling process, therefore, the unexpected result was expected. She hoped we could find the controling process to do any model. This theory seemed contradictory but I kept it in mind.

油畫 (7) -- 三本書與水果的靜物










油畫課上到目前為止,一直無法突破,因為我一直畫不出水果的立體感,感覺很沮喪...心想那就到工作室畫吧,雖然很丟臉,但是應會遇到柏成,請他指點一下迷津.果然,他談了很多問題,例如顏色,筆觸,或許畫筆要換大隻點.對於柏成的建議思考了很久,在想甚麼方式比較適合我以及目前油畫老師的教法.目前老師是要我們畫出靜物的立體感,我想那我就換隻大的筆著手,而且以大塊面來處理光.沒想到,畫出來的效果還不錯.

Canvas for Light -- Pin-up Exp.1





Professor, Nancy Lin, is this exercise's instructor. I am very excited because she is an excellent teacher and will give exact criticism at student's works.

The purpose of this exercise is to understand the light through the process of making. So, at this first pin-up, we had to give out five cardboards models as our canvas. Allow only "cut" and "fold" as the operational tools to create artifacts that can intensify the effects of light and shadow.

I made ten models and marked as 1~10.
First, I only used vertical and horizontal cut to make up my 1th model. I found that cut one folded plane and pulled two sides of this cut one to different direction then I could get a postive and negative space. So, I made 2nd & 3rd models to make this postive and negative space.

Then, I changed my basic composing element from rectangle to triangle because I felt that the form of triangle seemed has more angles in 3D. I made 5th & 6th model and used triangle to form spaces whose opening conntected to another one.

Final, I used patterns to try to make the space. The 7th model had triangle array. The 8th model had rectangle array.

In fact, during the class, I did not say something about my models, just told Nacy about the number of the model. It was very interesting that Nancy found what I did. She liked my two models: No.3 & No.7. And she gave many suggestions for further improvement.

For this No.3, there are 7 items:


  1. ratio.
  2. groups
  3. the size of opening
  4. remove plane
  5. remove uncertainty
  6. simply
  7. avoid soft structure



For this No.7, there are 3 items:

  1. no continuing plane
  2. dont waste any plane on lying on the ground
